Preliminary investigations reveal that the recovered pistol is allegedly owned by one Chukwuebuka, a suspected arms dealer popularly known by the alias “Nwa Onitsha”, who is currently on the run.
The suspects are reportedly cooperating with authorities and have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping/Rapid Response Squad for further interrogation.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the elusive Chukwuebuka.
“This operation underscores our commitment to enhancing public safety by dismantling criminal networks and ensuring that their hideouts are no longer safe havens,” he said.
Ikenga added that the ongoing raids are part of broader strategic operations aimed at restoring confidence among residents and ensuring that Awka and its environs remain secure.
The Command urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information that can aid investigations.
