Air Chief Harps on Dedication, Professionalism as NAF Boosts Medical Workforce with 90 Healthcare Personnel

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has charged newly inducted medical personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to remain dedicated, professional, and selfless in discharging their duties to both the force and the nation at large.

He gave the charge during the weekend at the combined graduation ceremony of 90 medical technicians from the Nigerian Air Force School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine (NAFSMSAM), Kaduna.

Addressing the graduates of the Sundry Medical A1 Upgrading Course 6/2025 and the Basic Medical Course 3/2025, Air Marshal Abubakar reminded them that their training comes with a high level of responsibility.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. You must use your newly acquired knowledge, skills, and attitudes to confront and overcome the challenges that may arise in the course of your service,” he said.

The 90 graduates—comprising 43 from the Sundry A1 programme and 47 from the Basic Medical Course—are expected to join the NAF medical workforce and will be deployed to various units across the country.

Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that the Nigerian Air Force had taken deliberate steps to enhance the capacity of its Medical Services Branch through the establishment of 13 hospitals, 41 fully equipped medical centres, and two leading medical training institutions.

He also noted that beyond serving NAF personnel, the new graduates would contribute to the delivery of quality healthcare services to the general public, in line with the force’s expanding healthcare mandate.

“Our vision is to build a robust healthcare system within the Nigerian Air Force that supports national health goals. Through the deployment of highly trained professionals like you, we are fulfilling that mandate,” he added.

In further demonstration of NAF’s commitment to improved welfare and training, the Air Chief also inaugurated new infrastructure at the Barakallahu base in Kaduna, including a block of 10 instructors’ quarters, a 30-unit accommodation for married non-commissioned officers, and a 12-unit transit quarters for single officers.

He also announced the ongoing construction of a 345-bed joint-user accommodation facility for both NAFSMSAM and the Nigerian Air Force College of Nursing Sciences (NAFCONS), which is expected to further boost the quality of healthcare delivery and training within the service.
