FG Launches NIN Authentication Platform to Boost Identity Verification
The Federal Government has approved the rollout of a new identity verification platform developed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), known as NIN Authentication (NINAuth), to enhance digital identity management and service delivery in Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt the platform for identity verification and authentication purposes, as part of efforts to streamline access to public services under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the NINAuth platform features web, API, and mobile verification options that provide a secure, user-consent-based identity management system.

“This innovation introduces a robust layer of protection, empowering individuals with greater control over their personal data,” Adegoke said. “It ensures that user consent is obtained before any identity information is shared for Know Your Customer (KYC) or verification processes.”
The platform is designed to simplify access to key government services, including SIM registration and replacement, passport issuance, tax filings, financial transactions, driver’s license renewals, and participation in government intervention programs across MDAs.
Dr. Adegoke noted that the NINAuth application—available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store—connects users directly to NIMC’s backend infrastructure for real-time identity confirmation.
“With this launch, NIMC reaffirms its commitment to secure, efficient, and transparent identity verification, contributing to a more trusted digital environment in Nigeria,” he added.
