Dabiri-Erewa Urges Nigerians in Diaspora to Back ‘Nigeria First’ Policy

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Nigerians living abroad to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly introduced ‘Nigeria First Policy’, aimed at fostering national development through homegrown initiatives.

The call was contained in a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit at NiDCOM.

According to the statement, Dabiri-Erewa said the executive directive is designed to prioritize Nigeria-centric matters, promote locally made products, and adopt indigenous solutions, particularly in government procurement processes.

“This is a critical moment in our nation’s journey. The ‘Nigeria First’ Policy offers a renewed call for all Nigerians, especially those in the diaspora, to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our country,” the statement quoted her as saying.

She encouraged Nigerians abroad to seize the opportunity to contribute their expertise, talent, and knowledge toward Nigeria’s ongoing reform efforts.

“My brothers and sisters in the diaspora, this is an opportunity to key into this initiative. This is an opportunity to bring your expertise, knowledge, and talents back home to Nigeria,” she said.

Dabiri-Erewa also assured that NiDCOM is ready to partner with diaspora Nigerians in various capacities, especially in areas that align with the goals of the Nigeria First Policy.

The directive is part of President Tinubu’s broader reform agenda aimed at reducing dependence on foreign goods and services, boosting local content, and driving sustainable national development.
