Kano Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Killing Sister’s Boyfriend
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Mansur Umar, over the alleged killing of his sister’s boyfriend, Sulaiman Musa, in Kunya Village, Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the tragic incident occurred on the night of May 9, 2025. The suspect allegedly struck the victim on the head with a stick during a visit to his girlfriend, Fiddausi Umar, at her residence.

“The victim was rushed to Kunya Cottage Hospital and later referred to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, for further medical attention. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at 12:50am the following day,” the statement read.
The police confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and that the case is currently being investigated by the Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
In the statement, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, urged members of the public to exercise self-control and avoid taking laws into their own hands. He emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
