Troops Neutralize 60 Terrorists in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have dealt a significant blow to insurgents in Borno State, killing at least 60 terrorists during a fierce overnight offensive in the Bita axis of the state.
The confrontation erupted around 1:09am on Friday when insurgents launched an assault on the 26 Task Force Brigade. In response, Nigerian forces unleashed a coordinated ground and aerial counterattack that overwhelmed the attackers.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Nigerian Army described the operation as “decisive and coordinated,” confirming that the terrorists were taken out through simultaneous land and air strikes.

“Gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai launched a simultaneous land and air assault on terrorist positions in Bita, Borno State, in the early hours of today,” the Army stated. “The intense battle resulted in the neutralization of at least 60 terrorists.”
It was gathered that, the firefight raged until about 3:23am. The Nigerian Air Force deployed A-29 Super Tucano jets and the Dragon air platform to deliver real-time surveillance and precision airstrikes.
At least two enemy gun trucks were destroyed, and follow-up operations are targeting fleeing insurgents. Ground troops have also begun pursuit operations to mop up any surviving terrorists.
“The battle is still ongoing with follow-up strikes targeting retreating terrorist groups. An additional two gun trucks have been confirmed destroyed as air platforms re-engaged the fleeing insurgents,” one military source was quoted as saying.
The operation is considered one of the most effective assaults on ISWAP elements in recent months, showcasing the growing synergy between Nigeria’s ground forces and air capabilities.
