Troops Raid IPOB Camp in Abia, Recover ₦11.7m, $27,000, Weapons

Troops of Operation UDO KA have uncovered a major separatist terror camp operated by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Abia State, seizing over ₦11.7 million, $27,000 in cash, and a cache of sophisticated weapons, according to a military report released on Thursday.

The operation, which took place on May 22 in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of Abia State, was part of sustained offensive efforts against IPOB and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

According to Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the troops recovered several automatic machine guns, arms and ammunition, laptops, CCTVs, motorcycles, mobile phones, and vehicles during the raid. The camp was destroyed and set ablaze after the operation.

“The scale of items recovered underscores the level of coordination and resources at the disposal of the group,” Kangye stated, emphasizing the military’s resolve to dismantle terror infrastructure in the South-East.

In related operations, troops rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested six suspected IPOB-linked criminals in Imo and Abia States between May 22 and 27. Among the items seized were over 50 ATM cards, locally made explosives, mobile phones, motorcycles, and Biafran currency.

“These operations are part of our broader strategy to degrade separatist threats and restore law and order in the region,” Kangye added.

The arrested suspects and recovered items have been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
