Golfers Association Visits TRADOC Commander, Appreciates Hospitality
The Golf and Tour Charity Association of Nigeria (GTCAN) paid a courtesy visit to the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, on Friday, May 30, 2025. The visit was to express gratitude for his role in hosting the 12th Series of the Association’s charity golf tournament at the Minna Cantonment Golf Club (MCGC).
This was disclosed in a statement by TRADOC’s spokesperson, Lt Colonel Sani Uba .
Leading the delegation was the Association’s Executive Chairman, Air Vice Marshal Clement Aroriode (Retired), who highlighted the significance of the visit as a formal gesture of appreciation for the Nigerian Army’s unwavering support and hospitality.
During the meeting, AVM Aroriode praised Major General Aligbe for his leadership and logistical backing, which contributed to the successful execution of the 2025 tournament. He noted that the Association’s charitable initiative has been ongoing for 12 years, with tournaments held in various states across the country.

The retired Air Vice Marshal explained that Minna was selected for the 2025 edition due to its strategic importance and the pivotal role of TRADOC NA in shaping military training and operations.
In response, Major General Aligbe expressed his gratitude to GTCAN for choosing Minna as the host location, describing the selection as an honor. He reaffirmed TRADOC NA’s commitment to supporting the Association’s activities throughout the tournament.
Reflecting on his career, Major General Aligbe acknowledged the mentorship he received from some of the Association’s senior members during his early military training at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). He credited their guidance as instrumental in his professional development.
GTCAN, a non-profit organization, promotes unity, sportsmanship, and social engagement through golf. With a membership base consisting of retired and serving military and para-military officers, as well as civilian professionals, the Association regularly organizes charity golf tournaments to support community development initiatives and the welfare of military and civilian golfers.
The visit concluded with a souvenir presentation, a signing of the visitors’ register, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
