Troops Neutralise 3 Notorious Bandits, Recover Firearms in Plateau
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have neutralised three armed bandits during an early morning raid on 31 May 2025, following credible intelligence on criminal hideouts along the fringes of Pinau Village in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to a press statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the operation targeted criminal elements known for terrorising communities and motorists along the Pinau-Gimbi road axis.

“Troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them in a firefight. The superior firepower of our troops overwhelmed the bandits, leading to the neutralisation of three, while others fled with gunshot wounds,” the statement read in part.
Blood trails along their escape routes indicated that several others may have sustained injuries during the clash. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a magazine, which are now in military custody for further investigation.
Major Zhakom further disclosed that follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing criminals and ensure sustained peace in the affected communities.
He affirmed the military’s resolve to build on the momentum of this success, stating, “Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN will consolidate on this success with a view to strengthening their operational capability for more robust combat operations in dealing decisively with criminals in the Joint Operations Area.”
