Lagos CP Orders Probe into Alleged Misconduct by Tactical Squad Commander

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Owohunwa Jimoh, has ordered a thorough investigation into allegations of complicity and procedural misconduct leveled against the Commander of the Okokomaiko Tactical Squad in the handling of six suspects accused of serious crimes.
In response to the allegations, a high-powered investigative committee has been set up, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), alongside the Officer in Charge of the Legal Unit. The committee is expected to submit its findings within a week.

To ensure an unhindered and impartial investigation, the embattled Tactical Commander has been redeployed from the unit. The Command assured that the outcome of the probe will be made public upon completion.
“The Lagos State Police Command does not condone any form of corruption, complicity, or compromise in investigation and prosecution procedures by any of its officers,” the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated in an official release on Saturday.
He further noted that appropriate disciplinary actions would be taken should the officer in question be found culpable, emphasizing the commitment of the Command to uphold integrity and professional standards in all operations.
CP Jimoh also appealed to members of the public to exercise caution and patience while the investigation is ongoing. He urged residents to maintain trust in the Police, assuring that any proven wrongdoing by officers will be duly addressed.
The move is seen as a significant step by the Lagos State Police Command towards reinforcing public confidence and ensuring accountability within its ranks.
