Troops Repel Bandits Attack, Eliminate 8 in Katsina
Troops of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, on Wednesday repelled a terrorist attack along the Kurfi–Batsari road in Katsina State, neutralising eight terrorists during a fierce early morning gun duel.
The foiled ambush occurred around 5:00 a.m. when the armed assailants attempted to launch an attack on unsuspecting civilians travelling along the route. However, the swift and coordinated response of the troops thwarted the assault, leading to a prolonged exchange of gunfire.
In the aftermath of the encounter, eight terrorists were confirmed killed, while troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a large cache of 7.62mm special ammunition from the scene.

One soldier was injured during the operation and has since been evacuated to a medical facility where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Commending the bravery of the troops, military authorities praised their gallantry, tactical discipline, and commitment to safeguarding the lives of residents in the region. The local community was also acknowledged for its continued support and cooperation in enhancing security efforts.
“This victory underscores the importance of vigilance and sustained collaboration between security agencies and local communities. We must remain resolute in our mission to rid the region of criminal elements and restore lasting peace,” a senior military official stated.
Security forces have intensified patrols in the area to prevent regrouping by fleeing terrorists, while efforts are ongoing to maintain peace across affected communities in Katsina State.
