Benue Governor Condemns Killing of Two Kano Indigenes, Orders Immediate Arrest of Perpetrators

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has strongly condemned the killing of two Kano indigenes by suspected criminals in Agan settlement, Makurdi Local Government Area, describing the act as barbaric and unacceptable.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the Governor expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the victims, who were reportedly travelling through the state when they were brutally attacked and murdered.

Reacting swiftly to the incident, Governor Alia directed the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to immediately apprehend those behind the heinous crime. Following the directive, five suspects have already been arrested by the Benue State Police Command in connection with the killings.

“Benue people are known for their hospitality and peaceful disposition,” Governor Alia said. “We cannot allow some criminal elements to tarnish our image and create a contrary impression of our state. These criminals must be fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.”

The Governor extended heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the people of Kano over the loss of their citizens. According to the statement, the two governors have communicated directly over the unfortunate development.

Governor Alia also called for calm and assured the Kano State Government and the general public that justice would be served.

The victims’ identities were not immediately disclosed, but authorities said investigations are ongoing, with efforts being intensified to ensure all those involved are apprehended and prosecuted.
