Troops Ambush Bandits in Plateau, Neutralise One, Rescue Kidnap Victim
Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN have recorded another success in the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A by ambushing a group of bandits, neutralising one of them, and rescuing a kidnapped victim in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to a statement issued by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, the ambush was conducted on July 2, 2025, along the Kampani Zurak–Sabon Gari road, based on credible intelligence about the movement of suspected bandits with a hostage.
The troops made contact with the criminals as they attempted to cross the area on a motorcycle. In the ensuing engagement, one of the bandits was neutralised, while others abandoned their captive and fled into the surrounding bushes.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Mr. Adamu Alhaji Nuhu, was successfully rescued without injury while the troops recovered several items from the scene, including: One fabricated pistol, One pistol magazine, Four rounds of 9mm ammunition, One Boxer motorcycle, Other sundry items left behind by the fleeing suspects
The statement noted that all recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation, while follow-up operations are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing members of the criminal syndicate.
Operation SAFE HAVEN reaffirmed its commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens and declared that all criminal elements within its Joint Operations Area would be relentlessly pursued and dismantled.
“Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN are poised to continually launch offensives against these criminals whose evil missions must be truncated by every legitimate means possible,” the statement read.
