Military sources confirmed that the joint counter-offensive inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes.
The operation was significantly aided by the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of the Nigerien Defence Force, which played a pivotal role in guiding Nigerian troops to target and neutralize the advancing insurgents.
Mallamfatori, situated within the volatile Lake Chad Basin, remains a crucial location in the broader counter-insurgency efforts across Nigeria’s North-East and the transnational Lake Chad region.
Mop-up operations are ongoing in the area, and further updates are expected as security forces continue their pursuit of the fleeing terrorists.
