Troops Foil Coordinated Bandits Attacks, Rescue Kidnap Victims in Katsina
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully thwarted a series of coordinated kidnapping attempts across Katsina State, rescuing a traditional leader and another victim during separate operations, PRNigeria learnt.
In the early hours of Sunday, at about 12:25 a.m., suspected bandits launched simultaneous attacks on three communities in Dandume Local Government Area—Ungwar Iidi, Albasu along Tumburkai Road, and Ungwar Hawan Idi.
The operatives swiftly responded, engaging the attackers in a gun duel at Ungwar Hawan Idi, which forced the assailants to retreat into a nearby forest.

Zagazola Makama reported that during the operation, one victim, identified as Malam Sale, was rescued with gunshot wounds and taken to the General Hospital in Dandume for treatment. Another resident, Malam Auwalu, was reported missing in the aftermath of the chaos. A search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate him.
In a separate incident in Matazu Local Government Area, a traditional leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammadu Bello, aged 60 and the Wakilin Hakimin Matazu, who was abducted on Saturday, was rescued by security forces on Sunday around 4:00 p.m. in Maharba Village.
The victim was immediately taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, for medical assessment and later reunited with his family.
Security authorities have confirmed that investigations into the incidents and the identities of the perpetrators are ongoing. The successful operations underscore the heightened vigilance and rapid response efforts of security operatives across the state.
