Troops Ambush Bandits, Eliminate 2, Recover Arms in Plateau
Troops of Sector 2, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), in collaboration with operatives of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have neutralised two armed bandits and recovered weapons during a coordinated ambush in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to security sources, the operation was launched based on credible intelligence indicating that bandit leaders were distributing arms recently seized from local vigilantes during an attack in the Odare Forest on July 6.

Acting on the tip-off, the troops successfully staged an ambush along a key route connecting Dutsen Zaki and Odare Forest.
“At approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 14, troops made contact with the bandits. Two of them were neutralised in the ensuing firefight, while others managed to escape with suspected gunshot wounds,” one of the sources disclosed.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, six magazines, 27 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a Boxer motorcycle believed to have been used by the criminals.
The sources further confirmed that the recovered items are in military custody, and follow-up operations are ongoing to track down the remaining members of the fleeing bandit group.
