NCCSALW, TRADOC Strengthen Ties to Combat Illicit Arms in North Central

In a renewed effort to curb the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Nigeria, the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) has deepened its strategic partnership with the Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA).

During a courtesy visit to the TRADOC Headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, the Zonal Director of NCCSALW North Central, Mr. Abdul Adamu Eneche, led his management team to seek enhanced military collaboration in tackling illicit arms in the region.

Mr. Eneche emphasised the urgent need for interagency synergy, noting that effective control of illicit weapons flow is central to national security. “We require the support of the Army, particularly in addressing the activities of illegal groups falsely claiming to combat arms proliferation,” he said.

He praised TRADOC NA for providing storage facilities for recovered weapons and requested the deployment of more personnel to support NCCSALW’s operations. According to him, the Centre is investing in new strategies and technologies to detect and disrupt arms trafficking routes.

In his response, Commander of TRADOC NA, Major General Kevin Aligbe, lauded the Centre’s commitment to its mandate and reaffirmed the Army’s readiness to support its mission.

“We are committed to providing the necessary support and resources to ensure the success of NCCSALW in ridding the nation of illicit arms,” he said.

Maj. Gen. Aligbe also congratulated Mr. Eneche on his appointment as Zonal Director and pledged TRADOC’s continued partnership in implementing effective arms control policies across the North Central region.

The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph to commemorate the collaboration.
