PRNigeria Opens Application for 2025 Young Communication Fellowship

PRNigeria, the country’s foremost privately-owned news agency, has officially opened applications for the 2025 edition of its acclaimed Young Communication Fellowship (YCF), aimed at nurturing a new generation of media professionals in Nigeria.

The Fellowship, now in its second year, is a youth-focused initiative by Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR)—publishers of PRNigeria and Spokesperson’s Digest. The programme is endorsed by leading communication bodies, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism.

Empowering Emerging Voices
The 2025 Fellowship, themed “Truth, Trust & Technology: Strengthening National Stability through Media, Security, and Strategic Communication”, offers a transformative experience for young Nigerian graduates with a passion for journalism, public relations, and strategic communication.

Spanning one month, the intensive program will run across three PRNigeria Centres:

  • Kano (September 2025)
  • Ilorin (October 2025)
  • Abuja (November 2025)

Each centre will host participants for two weeks of immersive training, hands-on projects, and engagements with seasoned professionals.

Yushau Shuaib, CEO of PRNigeria, emphasised the broader mission of the Fellowship: “This initiative aims not just to sharpen technical skills, but to instil integrity, responsibility, and national consciousness in every participant.”

Eligibility Criteria & Application Timeline
To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 20 and 30
  • Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
  • Reside in or near Kano, Ilorin, or Abuja
  • Demonstrate strong passion for journalism, communication, or media innovation

Applications open on Monday, July 28, 2025, and close on Monday, August 8, 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next steps.

Program Lead Dahiru Lawal encourages young professionals to seize this opportunity, noting, “The Fellowship offers rare mentorship and skill-building platforms to shape careers and contribute to national development through ethical communication.”
