Police Operatives Eliminate 3 Bandits, Recover 10 AK-47 Rifles

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crimes, neutralizing three armed bandits and recovering ten AK-47 rifles during a series of coordinated intelligence-led operations across several states.

In a press release issued on Sunday, July 27, 2025, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police disclosed that the operations were carried out throughout July by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States.

According to the statement, the operations led to multiple armed encounters during which three bandits were neutralized. The suspects, who reportedly attempted to flee upon sighting the operatives, were fatally subdued after fierce gunfire exchanges. The Police recovered ten AK-47 rifles believed to have been used in various criminal activities, including kidnappings, armed robbery, gunrunning, and cattle rustling.

“The suspects fled into nearby terrains with various degrees of gunshot injuries after abandoning their weapons,” the statement read. “Follow-up tactical operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicates, who have been linked to deadly attacks on communities in the affected states.”

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to safeguarding national security through sustained and intensified intelligence-led strategies.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in dismantling criminal networks and fulfilling its constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property,” IGP Egbetokun said, while urging Nigerians to continue providing actionable intelligence to the Police.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to nearby police stations or through official communication channels.
