Police Chief Rallies Security Experts for Smarter Intelligence Operations

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has called on security experts and stakeholders across Nigeria to deepen collaboration with the Police in advancing intelligence-led policing.

Egbetokun made the appeal on Thursday during an inspection of intelligence installations at Idu Community in Abuja, as part of the Force’s renewed push for technology-driven security operations.

The visit also featured senior police chiefs, including DIG Ben Nebeolisa Okolo of the Force Intelligence Department, DIG Adebowale Williams of ICT, AIG Adeleke Taiwo of Operations, and CP Felix Obe of Federal Operations.

The IGP, who was accompanied by indigenous security solutions provider EIB STRATOC, stressed that intelligence gathering remains the “bedrock of effective policing in the 21st century.”

He explained that the Force under his leadership is embracing modern technology and homegrown expertise to stay ahead of evolving threats to internal security.

“We cannot secure Nigeria with outdated methods. Technology, innovation, and indigenous expertise are vital if we are to outpace emerging security challenges,” Egbetokun said.

He assured that the new partnership with EIB STRATOC will enhance operational capabilities, improve public trust, and build synergy between the Police and other critical actors in the security sector.

Egbetokun also reiterated the Force’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies for crime prevention, intelligence analysis, and surveillance, urging Nigerians and private security experts to join hands with law enforcement agencies.

The inspection at Idu underscores the Police’s broader strategy to modernize its internal security architecture and reposition the Force as a technology-driven institution in tackling crime and insecurity nationwide.
