CDS, Katsina Lawmakers Strategize to Tackle Banditry

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Friday met with a delegation of National Assembly members from Katsina State to discuss fresh strategies for tackling banditry and other security threats in the state.

The lawmakers, led by Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar’Adua, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, visited the Defence Headquarters in Abuja to brief the CDS on the worsening security situation in Katsina.

They called for additional deployment of troops and military assets to strengthen the fight against banditry in the state.

During the meeting, the lawmakers commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for its sacrifices in safeguarding the country, paying tribute to troops who lost their lives in combat operations. They described the fallen heroes as “gallant and invaluable” in the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

In his response, General Musa assured the delegation of the military’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Katsina and across the country.

He revealed that the Armed Forces had adopted new tactics and strategies to combat evolving threats, pledging to sustain collaboration with the National Assembly in the security sector.

“The Armed Forces will continue to refine its operations to meet emerging security challenges. We welcome the support of the National Assembly in ensuring that peace and stability are achieved in Katsina and the entire nation,” General Musa said.

The visit, according to military sources, underscores the shared resolve of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the legislature to strengthen cooperation in the fight against insecurity and protect citizens from banditry, terrorism, and related crimes.
