Man, 65, arrested for illegal arms deal in Anambra – Police
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man for allegedly dealing in illegal ammunition at Nkpor, near Onitsha, the state’s commercial hub.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Akwuzu, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspect, identified as Akpan Godwin, on Friday.

Ikenga said the suspect was found in possession of 1,100 rounds of live ammunition at the time of his arrest. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to engaging in the illegal sale of ammunition and named other individuals believed to be involved in the trade.
“The operatives have intensified investigations and launched a manhunt to track down all accomplices. Further developments will be communicated as investigations progress,” the statement added.
The police assured residents that ongoing operations against illegal arms dealers and criminal networks in the state would be sustained to enhance public safety.
