We’ll Boost Operations to Secure Katsina, Nigerian Space – COAS Assures

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to intensifying operations aimed at curbing insecurity in Katsina State and across the country.

General Oluyede gave the assurance during a visit to the Acting Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Faruk Lawal Jobe, at the Government House, Katsina, where he commiserated with the government and people over recent banditry attacks that claimed lives and destroyed property.

The COAS, while sympathizing with the victims, pledged immediate and improved security measures to forestall a recurrence of such incidents. He appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting security agencies in the collective fight against banditry and other criminal activities.

Responding, the Acting Governor, Alhaji Faruk Jobe, expressed appreciation for the Army Chief’s visit and reassured him of the government’s unflinching support to the military and other security agencies. He highlighted the state government’s huge investment in security and promised to sustain such efforts until peace is fully restored.

Jobe further commended the Nigerian Army for its timely responses to distress situations, lauding the dedication of troops deployed across the state. He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to tackling insecurity nationwide.

As part of his operational tour under the 8 Division/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, General Oluyede received a detailed briefing from the Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola, at Natsinta Barracks. The briefing covered operational activities, challenges, and future strategies to enhance security in the state. The COAS commended the Brigade for their resilience and assured them of improved logistics support to ease operations.

Continuing his three-day tour, the Army Chief visited Forward Operating Bases in Dutsinma, Safana, and Malumfashi. At each location, he charged troops to intensify operations, deny bandits freedom of action, and safeguard lives and property within their areas of responsibility. He also reassured the soldiers of his commitment to their welfare and provision of the necessary operational platforms to effectively discharge their duties.

General Oluyede stressed that the Nigerian Army would not relent in its resolve to rid Katsina State—and the nation at large—of banditry and all forms of criminality.
