VP Shettima, Health Minister Endorse Care365 Drive for Inclusive Healthcare

Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have thrown their weight behind Care365 Health Hub, a new digital health platform designed to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare for Nigerians, particularly in underserved and remote communities.

The platform was launched in Abuja on Tuesday by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.

The event, themed, “Enhancing and Fast-Tracking Universal Health Coverage Through Digital Technology and Innovation”, was attended by dignitaries including former Headline-of-State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and other stakeholders.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, Mrs. Uju Rochas-Anwukah, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health, said Care365 reflects the ingenuity of Nigerian innovators and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for healthcare transformation.

“The Care365 digital health intervention is a testament to Nigerian innovation. It fits within the administration’s efforts to make healthcare inclusive, strengthen primary care, reduce inequalities, and expand access to rural areas,” Shettima said.

He also commended General Abubakar for his leadership role in the initiative and called on state governments, private sector players, and development partners to support Care365 in scaling across the country.

Obasanjo, who chaired the event, praised the innovation and urged both government and private stakeholders to adopt the platform.

“Health should be the right of everybody, but the rights are not inclusive. Inclusive progress begins with inclusive health for all,” he said, describing Care365 as a potential solution to bridge existing health gaps.

Care365 Health Hub integrates a range of digital solutions including AI-powered health kiosks, smart booths for instant checks, mobile apps, diagnostic kits, mobile labs, telemedicine platforms, and digital records to improve healthcare delivery nationwide.

General Abubakar, Chairman of the initiative, hailed the innovation as timely and urged stakeholders to sustain support for its success.

Former President Jonathan also underscored the importance of digital technology in national progress and encouraged young Nigerians to drive innovation in the health sector.

Launching the products, Prof. Pate said the innovation aligns with the ministry’s four-point agenda focused on governance, improving outcomes, unlocking the healthcare value chain, and health security.

“The Care365 hub represents a practical solution to making healthcare services available and affordable for all Nigerians, especially in underserved areas,” Pate said.

The CEO and founder of Care365, Ngozi Joseph Odumuko, described the platform as a collaboration between Nigerian innovators and international partners, adding that it was developed to support government and private sector efforts in ensuring quality healthcare for all citizens.
