Troops Eliminate Bandits, Rescue Abductee, Recover Motorcycles in Katsina
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have intensified clearance operations in Katsina State, rescuing a kidnapped victim, repelling terrorist attacks, and neutralising two armed men in separate encounters across Sabuwa and Kankara Local Government Areas.
During a patrol at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Malali in Kankara, troops rescued Mallam Urwatu Adamu, who was kidnapped on September 1 at Maitsiga village. He was later handed over to local authorities.
In another incident, troops foiled an attack on Ungwuan Dauda village in Sabuwa LGA after engaging terrorists in a fierce firefight. One vigilante, however, lost his life in the exchange. The terrorists were forced to retreat without further damage to the community.

On September 3, troops of the 17 Brigade Strike Group, supported by special forces, launched an offensive at Malali Bridge in Kankara. Despite challenges posed by marshy terrain, foot patrol elements advanced and successfully engaged the terrorists, killing two and recovering a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, the Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YANMA, Maj.-Gen. O.O. Soyele, visited FOB Mabai in Kankara and FOB Faskari to assess combat readiness ahead of joint clearance operations with Defence Special Operations Forces. He reassured troops of high command’s commitment and stressed the importance of protecting farming communities in Katsina, where terrorist incursions have disrupted livelihoods.
Community leaders commended the military’s proactive efforts, noting that the operations have restored confidence among residents and sent a clear warning to criminal elements in the state.
