Nigerian Army Rescues Abducted Major in Delta State

Troops of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued Major MD Josiah, a senior officer who was abducted on September 8 in Bomadi, Delta State. The rescue operation, which took place on September 9, highlights the army’s growing partnership with local communities in the fight against crime.
The rescue operation was the result of a coordinated effort, combining meticulous planning, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with community leaders in Bomadi. This synergy allowed troops to track down the abductors to Tuomor Waterside in the Bomadi Local Government Area.
Officer Wounded, Undergoing Treatment
During the rescue, Major Josiah sustained gunshot wounds but has since been evacuated to a medical facility where he is receiving care.
The Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, praised his troops for their “bravery and tactical prowess.” He assured the public that the Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring peace and security in the state. Brigadier General Shonibare also expressed his gratitude to the communities in Bomadi for their cooperation, which he said is a testament to the growing trust and partnership between the army and local residents.
The successful operation demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s capacity to respond decisively to security challenges and protect citizens, according to a press release signed by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 63 Brigade.
