NAHCON staff commend Chairman Over New Postings, Promotions
Staff of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) have commended the Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, and the Commission’s Board for approving their promotions and appointing one of them, Alidu Shutti, as the Director of Administration.
According to some of the staff, who preferred not to be named, Shutti’s appointment not only balances the management structure of the Commission but also gives hope to career staff that they can rise to the peak of their profession.
“You know, the Chairman is from Kano, the Secretary is from Borno, so appointing Shutti from Osun balances the top management of the Commission.
“We are also happy with the Chairman for ensuring that our entitlements were not denied us during the last Hajj, unlike what used to happen under previous leaderships. We only hope for the best under the new leadership,” one staff member said.
In a related development, the Commission has announced a minor shake-up in its workforce, following resolutions of its Board at its 14th sitting held between 26th and 27th August 2025.

This is even as the Chairman assured that the 5th Board would do everything necessary to build an effective and resilient workforce dedicated to fulfilling NAHCON’s statutory responsibilities in the service of Nigerian pilgrims, adding that “NAHCON will continue to introduce other reforms for enhanced productivity.”
A statement signed by NAHCON’s Deputy Director, Information, Fatima Sanda Usara, noted that the minor shake up was in line with the Board’s resolve.
“The Commission’s executive arm has effected the reposting of pool officers back to their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies with immediate effect. Accordingly, the affected officers were issued with letters on Thursday 4th September, 2025.
“The Board’s decision was taken primarily to eliminate redundancy and reposition the Commission for enhanced effective and efficient service delivery. This step was also taken to motivate staff towards higher performance.
“To support the ongoing reforms, the Board approved the promotion of some deserving officers. It also approved Capacity Building Programs for the entire staff aimed at equipping employees with requisite skills to achieve the organisational objectives of the Commission,” the statement added.
