Global Winner Nafisa Visits Professor Isa Pantami

In a powerful testament to the potential of Nigerian youth on the world stage, 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State has been celebrated for her extraordinary academic achievement. The student, who recently outshone thousands of global competitors to win a top international award, paid a special visit to her mentor, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.

Nafisa, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), was crowned the world’s top performer in English Language skills at the prestigious 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom. Her remarkable feat saw her triumph over approximately 20,000 participants from 69 countries, including native English-speaking nations, to clinch the coveted title.

During the visit, Nafisa presented her global award to Professor Pantami as a gesture of gratitude for his pivotal role in her success. She expressed deep appreciation for his consistent mentorship, support, and advocacy, which she credited as fundamental to her achievement.

“In a moving display of gratitude, Nafisa Abdullah not only presented her award but also humbly requested the continuation of Professor Pantami’s guidance, both in her religious and academic pursuits,” a source at the meeting noted.

In response, Professor Pantami warmly received the outstanding student and her parents. He commended Nafisa’s parents, guardians, and teachers for their foundational role in nurturing her talent. Demonstrating a firm commitment to her future, the Professor presented Nafisa with a brand-new high-performance HP laptop, additional books for her continued studies, and invaluable advice for a successful life.

The meeting took an inspirational turn as Professor Pantami and his family encouraged the young scholar to aspire to the highest echelons of academia, urging her to pursue her degree, Master’s, and ultimately a Ph.D. They emphasized that Nigerian society is in dire need of excellence in female education now more than ever.

Professor Pantami formally approved Nafisa’s request for continued mentorship, pledging his ongoing support for her journey. Nafisa Abdullah Aminu’s story transcends individual achievement; it serves as a compelling reminder that with the right opportunities, dedicated mentorship, and unwavering support, Nigerian students can compete and excel anywhere in the world.
