Troops Foil Terrorist Attacks in Katsina, Raid Hideouts in Sokoto, Recover Motorcycle
Nigerian troops have continued to record gains in the ongoing fight against terrorism, repelling an ambush in Katsina State and raiding terrorist hideouts in Sokoto State.
In Katsina, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), under 17 Brigade, thwarted an ambush by terrorists along the Sheme–Kankara road. The encounter occurred at the Ruwan Godiya crossing point, where the soldiers engaged the criminals in a fierce firefight.
The terrorists were forced to flee, abandoning a motorcycle and an Infinix mobile phone. Troops have since intensified patrols in the area to deny the criminals freedom of action.

Similarly, in Sokoto State, troops of the 8 Division Garrison, working jointly with the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps (SSCGC), conducted clearance operations at terrorist hideouts in Tureta Local Government Area. The raid, carried out in the early hours of Saturday, targeted the Dantayawa and Kuruwa mountains.
During the operation, the troops dislodged the terrorists after a gun battle, recovering a motorcycle from the camps. Although no arrest was made, the military confirmed that pursuit operations were ongoing to track the fleeing insurgents.
The latest successes underscore the military’s resolve to sustain pressure on terrorist groups across the North-West, with continuous patrols and clearance operations aimed at dismantling their networks.
