Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Taraba
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have neutralized two terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The successful operation, carried out under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, followed credible intelligence about a planned attack on the Chanchanji community by the Bojo terrorist group.

According to military authorities, the troops engaged the terrorists on September 15 along the Demeva–Chanchanji road, killing one of them while others fled. In a follow-up mission to intercept the fleeing suspects, the soldiers pursued them to the Demeva–Gbudu axis, identified as a planned crossing point into Ananum community in Donga LGA. A second encounter led to the neutralization of another terrorist.
Items recovered from the operation include a G3 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle.
The Commander of 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism. He assured residents of the Brigade’s continued aggressive operations against criminal groups threatening peace in Taraba State and its environs.
General Uwa also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies to support efforts at restoring lasting peace in the region.
