Military Kill Over 30 Terrorists in Borno, Adamawa
The Nigerian military has recorded major successes in its ongoing counter-terrorism operations, neutralising more than 30 terrorists in coordinated air and ground offensives across Borno and Adamawa States, PRNigeria reports.
In Borno, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) struck a terrorist gathering at Bula Madibale in the Gezuwa general area of Sambisa Forest, Bama Local Government Area.
The air interdiction, carried out on September 15 following credible intelligence from the Watchkeeper platform, targeted a meeting point under a tree where a terrorist flag had been hoisted.
According to security sources, the aircraft acquired and engaged the location around 2:25 p.m., destroying the meeting point and neutralising over 20 terrorists, while others were seen fleeing the scene.
On the same day, Zagazola Makama reports that troops of Operation Hadin Kai engaged Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in separate encounters in Kukawa, Borno, and Madagali, Adamawa.
Troops of Sector 3, while on patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route in Kukawa, ran into an ambush staged by terrorists who detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) before opening fire. The soldiers responded swiftly with superior firepower, killing eight insurgents, including two Munzirs and one Qaid identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, another unnamed Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota. Several others were wounded.
Recovered items included 14 motorcycles, AK-47 rifles with magazines, 7.62mm special ammunition, anti-aircraft links, blankets, and assorted drugs. In addition, two abandoned gun trucks were destroyed in precision air strikes around Alargarno and Doro Naira, supported by Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platforms.
In a related operation, Sector 1 troops, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, launched an offensive at Umbo in Madagali, Adamawa, neutralising three terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles, rounds of ammunition, and a mobile phone.
The military high command commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism, noting that no casualties were recorded on the part of the security forces.
