Troops Smash Kidnap Syndicate in Borno, Arrest Boko Haram Suspect in Adamawa

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI and Operation Desert Sanity IV have recorded major breakthroughs in counter-insurgency operations across the North-East, dismantling a kidnap syndicate in Borno State and arresting a Boko Haram suspect in Adamawa State, PRNigeria learnt.

In Magumeri, Borno State, troops supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters stormed a hideout on September 25 and arrested two members of a kidnap gang that had been terrorising residents in the area.

The suspects, identified as Isa Adamu, 20, and Lawal Adamu, 45, were linked to the abduction of one Mallam Kolo Bukar in August.

Military sources said the gang collected a ransom of ₦5 million from the victim’s family and later demanded an additional ₦10 million before security forces moved in. Items recovered during the raid included an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine with 10 empty rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a Toyota Land Cruiser pickup, ₦228,600 in cash, identity documents, a mobile phone, and other sundry items. The army noted that the operation restored calm to the Bornu Yesu Gen axis.

Similarly, on September 24, Zagazola reported that troops arrested a Boko Haram member, Ahmadu Buba, 31, during an intelligence-driven operation in Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Buba, who confessed to joining the terror group in April 2025, admitted involvement in the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge in June and the attack on Mandaragirau Sabon Gari Kimba in August. His arrest was carried out in collaboration with local hunters, military authorities confirmed.

The latest operations, according to security sources, underscore the military’s sustained efforts to degrade insurgent networks and criminal gangs undermining peace and security in the region.
