General Irabor Set to Unveil Book on Boko Haram Insurgency in Abuja
Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (Rtd.), is set to present his new book offering a deep dive into the Boko Haram insurgency on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Abuja.
The book, titled “Scars: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum,” is expected to offer compelling insights from a military leader who commanded forces against one of the nation’s greatest threats. Reviewers have stated the work is “destined to change the Boko Haram narrative.”
The unveiling ceremony will be a high-profile event at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, attracting key national figures.

According to Jonah Ejenavi, Chairman of the Book Launch Organising Committee, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been invited as the Special Guest of Honour. Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will serve as the Chairman of the occasion, and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev (Dr) Matthew Hassan Kukah, will be the book reviewer.
The book dissects the complex dynamics of the Boko Haram terrorist organization, whose emergence in 2002 ushered in an era of bloodbath, economic devastation, and regional instability across the West African belt.
“In Scars, Gen. Irabor dissects the Boko Haram conundrum, while proposing solutions to a challenge that threatens the future of Nigeria and other West African states,” Ejenavi stated.
The 330-page book is divided into three parts, exploring Nigeria’s historical past, unraveling the roots of the security challenges posed by Boko Haram, and proposing the paradigm shift required to establish lasting peace.
