FCT Police Arrest Five Wanted Bandits, Recover 2,000 Rounds of Ammunition

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested five notorious bandits on its wanted list and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including more than 2,000 rounds of live ammunition.

According to the Command, the operation was conducted by its Scorpion Squad between September 20 and 28, 2025, following weeks of intelligence-led tracking. The suspects were apprehended in Nasarawa State after being linked to a string of kidnappings across the North Central, North West, and North East regions.

Those arrested include: Abdullahi Garuba, also known as Alhaji Ore, aged 40; Yusuf Inuwa, a.k.a. Alhaji Dabunda, 59; David Kaika, a.k.a. Baba, 29; Baba Imaji, female, 36; and Ibrahim Nasiru, popularly called Pepper.

Items recovered from the gang include 2,186 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 live ammunition, two AK-47 rifles with obliterated serial numbers, a locally fabricated pistol with two cartridges, and five operational motorcycles.

Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Monday that the suspects had confessed to their involvement in multiple cases of abduction and violent crimes. “They will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” she said.

The Commissioner of Police, Ajao S. Adewale, praised the gallantry of the operatives who carried out the operation, assuring residents of the FCT that the Command remained committed to tackling insecurity. He urged members of the public to support security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency numbers.

Efforts, Adeh added, are underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
