Badaru Hails NAF’s Vision, Commissions New Headquarters Annex in Abuja
The Minister of Defence, Dr. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its foresight and commitment to institutional growth following the commissioning of the Headquarters NAF Annex Complex in Gudu, Abuja.
A statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force said the new complex, inaugurated on Monday, 6 October 2025, marks a major milestone in the ongoing transformation of the Air Force,
He said this aimed at decongesting its overstretched headquarters in Garki and creating a more efficient administrative structure.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Badaru described the project as a testament to NAF’s resilience, vision, and professionalism. He noted that the Force’s expansion since its establishment in 1964 has necessitated the development of new administrative and operational support frameworks.
“The relocation of key branches such as the Air Secretary, Standards and Evaluation, Transformation and Innovation, the 051 Personnel Management Group, and an Annex of the Chief of the Air Staff’s Office will not only ease congestion but also strengthen the institutional foundation of the Service,” the Minister said.

He praised the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, for aligning the project with his command philosophy of fostering a highly motivated and efficient force through welfare enhancement and infrastructural renewal. “This Annex reflects the Air Force’s habit of excellence and foresight,” he added.
In his remarks, Air Marshal Abubakar said the decision to establish the Gudu Annex was a strategic move to improve coordination, enhance productivity, and ensure a more conducive working environment for personnel.
“The commissioning of the HQ NAF Annex stands as a testament to our dynamism, resilience, and forward-looking posture,” the CAS stated, adding that the initiative reinforces the Service’s commitment to excellence, welfare, and efficiency.
Both the Minister and the CAS expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and strategic guidance, which they said have strengthened ongoing reforms across the nation’s security sector.
The Minister of Defence later performed the formal commissioning of the Headquarters NAF Annex Complex, Gudu, dedicating it to the service of the nation.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani, described the commissioning as more than a structural expansion, noting that it represents a defining milestone in the evolution and transformation of the Nigerian Air Force.
The event was attended by top government officials and senior military officers, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; the Acting Chairman, Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Augustine Akobundu; the Chairman, House Committee on Air Force, Hon. Kabiru Al-Hassan Rurum; Service Chiefs; and other dignitaries.
