Army Eliminates 12 Bandits, Two Soldiers Injured in Katsina Gun Duel
Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized 12 bandits during a fierce exchange of gunfire at Mabai village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The confrontation occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, shortly after a peace accord meeting earlier held at Kakumi village in Bakori LGA.
According to security sources, the bandits were passing near a military base in Mabai when they opened fire on the troops, prompting a swift and decisive response from the soldiers.

“Twelve of the armed bandits were eliminated during the encounter,” one of the sources confirmed, adding that two army personnel sustained injuries and were immediately evacuated to a medical facility in Katsina for treatment.
The source further disclosed that normalcy has since been restored in the area, with troops intensifying patrols and surveillance operations to prevent any resurgence of violence or reprisal attacks.
The clash is one of several recent confrontations in Katsina, as security forces continue to sustain offensive operations against bandit groups terrorizing rural communities in the North-West region.
