NRMG Unveils ‘M-Factor’ as Nigeria’s Cultural Power Engine for Global Reputation

The Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG) has identified what it calls “The M-Factor”—the nation’s five pillars of cultural power—as a defining force in shaping Nigeria’s global image.

The group made the revelation in a statement commemorating the inaugural “Nigeria Reputation Day”, which will now be observed every October 15.

According to NRMG Chairman, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, the “M-Factor” represents Nigeria’s soft power grid, comprising Music, Movies, Media, Minds, and Fashion—five dimensions through which the country’s creativity, resilience, and identity find expression.

“The M-Factor is the pulse of the Nigerian story,” Badejo-Okusanya noted. “Our music turns challenges into chants of hope, our movies mirror truth and courage, our media frames perception, our thinkers shape conscience, and our fashion weaves culture with confidence.”

He explained that the group’s vision is to ensure that Nigeria’s reputation becomes an asset built on integrity, transparency, and excellence. “When the M-Factor aligns with integrity, Nigeria becomes unstoppable. Let our music carry messages of dignity as much as rhythm, and our films uplift as much as they entertain,” he said.

The NRMG emphasised that the country’s reputation is not a matter of slogans or policies alone but of everyday conduct, character, and values. The 2025 theme, “Better Reputation, Better Nigeria,” underscores this belief, urging citizens to uphold honesty, accountability, and respect in all spheres of life.

In its statement, the group outlined five key principles for rebuilding and sustaining the nation’s image: Consistency, Transparency, Responsibility, Respect, and Excellence. It urged Nigerians at home and abroad to live by these values and commit to one act of integrity each day as part of the #BetterReputationBetterNigeria campaign.

Badejo-Okusanya noted that a country’s reputation determines how it is treated globally—from investor confidence and youth opportunities abroad to national pride among its citizens. “Our name is our most valuable national asset. The way the world receives us depends on how we carry that name,” he stated.

The NRMG said “Nigeria Reputation Day” will serve as a yearly reminder that integrity and reputation remain the foundation of true progress. The group pledged to continue working with government, private sector leaders, and citizens to restore and protect Nigeria’s moral and cultural capital.

“Together,” Badejo-Okusanya affirmed, “we can build a nation that commands respect, attracts opportunity, and reflects the greatness within us all.”
