PSC Promotes Over 400 Officers, Appoints New DIG for N’East

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dankwara Mohammed as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to represent the North-East geopolitical zone.

Mohammed’s appointment follows the retirement of DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya.

In a statement issued on Friday by the PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission also approved the promotion of Commissioner of Police (CP) Abibo Deinma Reuben to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Additionally, eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs).

Others are Cletus Nwadiogbu (Deputy Commissioner, Finance and Administration, Taraba State), Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor, and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.

The Commission also elevated thirteen Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to Deputy Commissioners (DCPs), while forty-four Chief Superintendents were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioners.

Similarly, 412 Superintendents advanced to the rank of Chief Superintendents, with several Deputy Superintendents confirmed as substantive Superintendents.

PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation. He reminded them that promotion within the police structure comes with greater responsibility and higher expectations.

The latest promotions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership structure and enhance operational efficiency within the Nigeria Police Force.
