PSC, NECA Partner to Develop AI-Enabled Complaint System for Ethical Policing

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced plans to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled digital complaint response and case management system aimed at promoting ethical policing and protecting the rights of employers across Nigeria.

This initiative emerged following a strategic meeting between the Commission and the leadership of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) at the PSC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

The NECA delegation, led by its Director General, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, met with the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), mni, alongside Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), fdc, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police.

According to the PSC Chairman, the proposed AI-driven platform will serve as a transformative tool in handling citizens’ and employers’ complaints with transparency and efficiency.

“The Commission will cooperate and work together with NECA to achieve a lot in digital complaint response and case management for the promotion of ethical policing in Nigeria,” DIG Argungu stated. “Your ideas will help us grow positive policing, and we are happy you are here to assist us.”

The collaboration is expected to enhance accountability in the Nigerian Police Force by ensuring that complaints and misconduct cases are processed swiftly and objectively through technology-backed monitoring.

Mr. Oyerinde, while speaking on behalf of NECA, said the partnership aligns with the Association’s commitment to advancing good governance and fair labour practices through institutional collaboration.

“NECA is the voice of the private sector. We want to assist the Commission in handling complaints to ensure integrity and reduce extortion and corruption in the system,” he said. “We represent the interests of corporate and critical sectors of the Nigerian economy, and we are ready to support the PSC in promoting ethical standards.”

He further disclosed that NECA would offer free training for PSC staff at its Academy in Abuja to strengthen their capacity in managing the new digital platform and related complaint-handling mechanisms.

The proposed AI-enabled system is expected to streamline case tracking, enhance transparency, and foster citizens’ trust in law enforcement operations across the country.
