NDLEA Promotes Kogi Strategic Commander Umar Mustapha Yahuza to Assistant Commander General
The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd.), has decorated Umar Mustapha Yahuza, the Commander of the Kogi State Strategic Command, with the new rank of Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN).
The promotion recognizes Yahuza’s decades of dedicated service and significant operational success in the fight against drug trafficking.
Yahuza, who joined the NDLEA in 1995 as a Cadet Superintendent and is a graduate of Bayero University Kano (BUK), has served across various formations of the agency, demonstrating high operational effectiveness:

Under his leadership, the Command recorded a notable upsurge in drug interdiction and secured a high number of convictions in the Federal High Court in Lokoja. His command also oversaw the public destruction of over 27 tonnes of hard drug exhibits.
He previously served as the Plateau State Commander before his deployment to Kogi. His career also includes roles as Area Commander, Assistant State Commander, and Principal Staff Officer across different NDLEA formations.
The newly promoted officer had undergone advanced training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji and the Federal Border Guards in Switzerland.
The promotion from the rank of Commander of Narcotics to Assistant Commander General of Narcotics affirms the agency’s recognition of his dedication and hard work, for which he has also received a formal commendation from the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA.
