NSCDC Deploys 10,250 Personnel for Anambra Guber Poll, Warns Against Violence

As part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and credible governorship election in Anambra State scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has ordered the deployment of 10,250 personnel, including tactical operatives from the Corps’ National Headquarters.

Prof. Audi made this known while addressing State Commandants and Heads of Tactical Squads at the Corps’ headquarters in Abuja, noting that the deployment was in line with the agency’s commitment to collaborate effectively with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies under the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

He explained that synergy among security agencies through proper coordination, cooperation, and collaboration would guarantee a violence-free election process.

“The Anambra Election is slated for Saturday, 8th November. All intelligence and undercover personnel are to proceed with immediate effect to man various identified flashpoints,” Prof. Audi stated. “Tactical forces are to commence round-the-clock patrols, while operatives deployed to polling units and collation centers must strictly adhere to the posting order.”

The NSCDC boss warned desperate politicians and their supporters against making inflammatory statements or engaging in acts capable of inciting violence before, during, and after the polls. He stressed that security agencies were fully prepared to prevent any breach of peace throughout the election period.

“Based on ICCES resolutions, the NSCDC alongside other security agencies on election duty will monitor the process and provide adequate security for election materials and officials. All operatives are to remain professional, impartial, and respectful of the fundamental human rights of citizens,” he said.

According to the Corps, the 10,250 operatives deployed were drawn from the National Headquarters Tactical Squad, Zone 13 in Awka, and neighboring states including Anambra, Edo, Kogi, Imo, Abia, Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Bayelsa.

Prof. Audi assured the public of the Corps’ readiness to ensure a peaceful, credible, and hitch-free exercise across the state.
