Troops Foil Kidnappers’ Plot, Rescue 10 Hostages in Benue
Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have rescued ten kidnapped victims after foiling a major abduction attempt by armed men disguised in police uniforms along the Zaki-Biam–Wukari Road in Benue State.
The daring operation took place on November 3, 2025, when troops deployed at Kyado received credible intelligence about suspicious activities around a location known as Quarantine Checkpoint, where the kidnappers were attempting to deceive unsuspecting travelers.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the soldiers mobilized to the scene. However, on sighting the approaching troops, the kidnappers fled into nearby bushes. The soldiers immediately launched a pursuit operation and tracked the suspects deep into the forest, where they successfully rescued ten hostages.
