Army Commander Lauds Troops’ Bravery, Professionalism During Operational Visit to Kano Community
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Muhammed Wase, has commended troops for their bravery and professionalism during a recent operation against bandits in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
Major General Wase gave the commendation on Tuesday during an operational assessment visit to frontline troops stationed at the Farin Ruwa and Tsaure Forward Operating Bases in Shanono.
The visit followed a recent bandit attack on November 2, 2025, which claimed the lives of two security personnel and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force. The GOC’s visit was aimed at assessing the security situation in the area, providing operational guidance, and boosting the morale of personnel engaged in anti-banditry operations.

While addressing the troops, Major General Wase urged them to remain professional, vigilant, and resolute in their mission to rid the area of banditry and other criminal activities. He reassured the troops of the continued support of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, towards ensuring the success of ongoing operations and the restoration of lasting peace in the region.
During the visit, the GOC also inspected a border area between Kano and Katsina States, identified as a major crossing point for bandits. He emphasized the need for sustained vigilance, intensified operations, and close collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders to secure the area.
The troops currently deployed in the axis include personnel from the 3 Brigade, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigeria Police Force, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
In continuation of his engagements, Major General Wase paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Government House, Kano. The meeting featured discussions on the security situation in the state and areas of strengthened cooperation between the Army and the state government. A presentation of souvenirs also featured as part of the visit’s highlights.
