Governor Yusuf Lauds Military on Banditry Fight as Kano Records Major Economic Gains
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Nigerian Army for its swift response to recent banditry attacks in the state and simultaneously celebrated significant economic milestones, including the first profit remittance from a state-owned company in over a decade.
The Governor made the commendation while receiving the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Wase, at the Government House.
General Wase visited the state to assess security situations in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Governments and assured the Governor that the military is focused on the affected areas.
Support for Security and Economic Milestones
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the military’s dedication and announced the donation of 10 Hilux trucks and 60 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force operating in the affected areas. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in combating banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.

The Governor also announced two major economic achievements aligning with his administration’s commitment to repositioning public institutions for economic self-sufficiency:
* First Profit Remittance in a Decade: The Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) remitted ₦200.4 million to the state government, representing 60 percent of its ₦334 million annual profit for the 2024 financial year. This marks the first time in over a decade that KASCO has made such a remittance since its establishment in 1991. Governor Yusuf lauded the management of KASCO for restoring the company to profitability.
* Boost for Financial Inclusion: Governor Yusuf commissioned the Kano branch of Signature Bank, reiterating his administration’s commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment for women and youth. He described the establishment of the bank as a testament to the state’s investor-friendly policy and assured the management of the state government’s full support.
The Emir of Kano, His Highness Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, welcomed Signature Bank, assuring the management that “Kano is a good market”.
