CP Shogunle Meets Security Chiefs to Fortify Election Preparedness Ahead of Anambra Governorship Poll

In a decisive move to bolster security ahead of the November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election, the Commissioner of Police overseeing the electoral process, CP Abayomi Shogunle, PhD, fsi, convened a high-level strategic meeting today with heads of all security agencies operating in the state.

The meeting, held at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, brought together top Service Commanders from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Unified Front for Peaceful Elections

CP Shogunle emphasized the collective resolve of the security agencies to deliver a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election. He stressed the importance of synergy, real-time intelligence sharing, coordinated patrols, and professional conduct by all personnel before, during, and after the polls.

“We are committed to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that voters, officials, and materials are protected across the state,” the Commissioner stated.

In their individual remarks, the Service Commanders reaffirmed their readiness to maintain law and order and protect critical national infrastructure. They pledged full cooperation with the Police and other agencies, underscoring their shared mission to uphold democratic values and public safety.

The security chiefs disclosed that flashpoints across the state have been reviewed, deployment strategies finalized, and rapid response mechanisms activated to swiftly address any breach of peace.

Call for Civic Responsibility

Security agencies jointly urged the electorate to remain law-abiding, shun violence, and participate in the election without fear or intimidation. Political parties and candidates were also advised to adhere strictly to electoral guidelines and discourage any actions that could disrupt public order.

“The Anambra State Security Architecture remains united and resolute in ensuring that the will of the people through the ballot prevails,” CP Shogunle affirmed.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest Police Station or via the Command’s emergency lines: 112 or 07039194332.

The strategic meeting marks a critical step in the final preparations for Saturday’s election, reinforcing public confidence in the security framework designed to protect democracy in Anambra State.
