CP Kankarofi Decorates 42 Newly Promoted Police Officers in Kogi, Reaffirms Commitment to Security Excellence

The Kogi State Police Command on Tuesday celebrated a significant milestone as 42 officers, including the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, were decorated with their new ranks in a ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Lokoja.

The event was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, alongside the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.), who jointly adorned the officers with their new insignia.

In his address, CP Kankarofi congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to view their elevation not as a reward, but as a renewed call to duty. He emphasized the need for heightened discipline, intelligence-led policing, and stronger community engagement to ensure the safety and stability of Kogi State.

“Promotion comes with greater expectations,” Kankarofi said. “I urge you all to maintain the highest level of discipline, integrity, and professionalism. The security of Kogi State depends largely on our collective commitment to proactive policing and effective synergy.”

He also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Alhaji Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.), for their unwavering support and prioritization of officers’ welfare, describing it as a vital morale booster for the command.

In his remarks, Commodore Omodara commended the command’s operational successes and reaffirmed the Kogi State Government’s commitment to supporting the police in their efforts to maintain law and order.

“The state government remains a steadfast partner in ensuring that Kogi continues to enjoy peace and security. We will keep working hand in hand with the police to build on the gains already achieved,” Omodara stated.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, SP William Aya expressed deep appreciation to the IGP and the PSC for the recognition. He pledged that the officers would uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and community partnership in their service to the state.

“This promotion motivates us to serve better and remain steadfast in protecting lives and property across the state,” Aya said. “We are truly inspired by the leadership of the IGP and the PSC, and we will not take this trust for granted.”

The ceremony marks a renewed chapter for the Kogi State Police Command, as it continues to strengthen its ranks and reinforce its commitment to public safety and effective policing.
