NAF Chief Aneke Charts New Strategic Course for Nigerian Air Force

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to boosting operational effectiveness, professionalism, and safety across all NAF formations. This pledge was made during his maiden strategic meeting with Branch Chiefs and Air Officers Commanding, held at the Blue Room of NAF Headquarters in Abuja.

The high-level session brought together the top echelon of the Service to deliberate on pressing operational and administrative challenges, assess current realities, and craft pragmatic strategies to reinforce air power delivery in support of Nigeria’s national security objectives.

A Defining Moment for the Air Force

In his opening remarks, Air Marshal Aneke described the meeting as a pivotal opportunity to “refocus, realign, and reposition the Nigerian Air Force for greater impact.” He emphasized that the Service stands at a critical juncture where its actions directly influence the nation’s security and stability.

“The aspirations of millions of Nigerians rest, in part, on how effectively we carry out our duties,” Aneke stated. “Mr President has given clear and express directives, and those directives will be implemented to the letter. There will be no ambiguity in our posture. The time for action is now, and we will deliver.”

The CAS outlined his strategic vision, anchored on professionalism, discipline, and clarity of purpose. He noted that all policies and resource allocations would revolve around two central pillars—operations and safety—supported by robust logistics, cutting-edge technology, and efficient administration.

“This is about putting square pegs in square holes,” he said. “The Nigerian Air Force needs leaders who can deliver, and I believe we have assembled the right team to take us to the next level.”

Open Dialogue and Actionable Outcomes

The meeting featured candid and solution-driven discussions, with Air Marshal Aneke encouraging participants to speak freely under the Chatham House Rule. He stressed that every contribution would be geared toward achieving practical outcomes.

“We have developed actionable frameworks that will translate into measurable results in the field, ensuring that every operation contributes directly to mission success,” he affirmed.

Commitment to National Peace and Civil Engagement

Air Marshal Aneke reassured Nigerians of the Air Force’s unwavering dedication to working in synergy with sister services and other security agencies to combat terrorism and other threats to national peace. He also emphasized the importance of civil-military relations, pledging continued community engagement and people-focused operations.

“Protecting civilian lives and preventing collateral damage will remain a defining hallmark of our professionalism,” he said.

The CAS concluded by expressing deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his confidence and leadership, pledging that the Nigerian Air Force would remain resolute in delivering on the President’s vision for a secure and prosperous Nigeria.
