Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Defeat Terrorism, Strengthen Global Alliances

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s unwavering determination to crush terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s engagement with international partners to enhance peace, security, and prosperity.

Speaking at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja — the first since July — Tinubu pledged that his government would continue to pursue its Renewed Hope Agenda with clarity, unity, and purpose.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all Nigerians that we will defeat terrorism,” the President declared shortly before the FEC entered a closed-door session. “The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda, to build a prosperous Nigeria.”

The President’s remarks came days after the United States, under President Donald Trump, designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.” The Federal Government had described the designation as a misrepresentation of Nigeria’s evolving security situation.

In his first public reaction to the U.S. action, President Tinubu maintained that his administration is actively engaging global leaders to strengthen cooperation in counterterrorism, stability, and economic development.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a strong vote of confidence in our economy,” he said.

Tinubu stressed that Nigeria remains united and determined in its pursuit of peace and prosperity, commending members of his cabinet for their commitment to implementing key government reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The task ahead is immense,” he added, “but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose.”

The President urged continued collaboration within the cabinet to ensure the success of his administration’s reform programmes aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy, tackling insecurity, and restoring public confidence in governance.
