NATIONWIDE OFFENSIVE: Army Eliminates 7 Terrorists, Arrest 27 Suspects, Recover Weapons, Stolen Crude Oil

The Nigerian Army has intensified its nationwide offensive against terrorists, insurgents, and economic saboteurs, killing seven terrorists, arresting 27 suspects, and recovering stolen crude oil and arms in a series of coordinated operations conducted across multiple theatres within the last 48 hours.

This follows the renewed directive of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to completely annihilate terrorist elements and dismantle all criminal networks threatening Nigeria’s peace and security.

According to a statement from Army Headquarters, the fresh momentum came shortly after the COAS’ operational visit to the North East, where he charged troops to sustain unrelenting pressure on all adversaries and restore normalcy to affected communities.

In the North East, troops of Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, conducted a precision cordon-and-search mission in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State, arresting 12 suspects linked to terrorist logistics and intelligence networks. Similarly, troops of 192 Battalion ambushed Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunnah (JAS) fighters along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three terrorists and recovering an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition.

Also in Damboa, troops of 25 Brigade neutralized one terrorist who attempted to infiltrate their location under false pretences.

In the North West and North Central regions, troops of Operation Enduring Peace in Kaduna State raided a terrorist hideout in Kauru Local Government Area, killing two insurgents linked to recent attacks on civilians. In Plateau State, troops arrested four suspects involved in the murder of two civilians in Riyom, while Operation Fansan Yamma in Niger State eliminated a terrorist scout and recovered a motorcycle, mobile phone, and other operational items.

Troops also sustained operations against oil theft and illegal mining in the South-South region. In Akwa Ibom State, soldiers of 2 Brigade arrested three illegal miners involved in black sand trading. Similarly, 144 Battalion troops in Abia State discovered an illegal refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen crude oil.

In Imo State, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade uncovered another illegal refining hub in Ohaji/Egbema, seizing six drums of stolen crude oil and a canoe used for transportation. Likewise, in Delta State, troops of 90 Amphibious Battalion intercepted three suspects — including an impostor in military camouflage — during a checkpoint operation in Sapele. Recovered items included fake military ranks, mobile phones, and charms.

The suspects, according to the statement, are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted accordingly.

The Army said the synchronized operations reflect its revitalized combat posture and determination under Lieutenant General Shaibu’s leadership to “take the fight to the enemy’s doorstep” and eradicate all threats to national security.

Reassuring Nigerians of its commitment to national peace and stability, the Army pledged to sustain the tempo of operations until all criminal elements are neutralized and every inch of the country reclaimed.

It also urged citizens to continue supporting military efforts by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations across the country.
