Adamawa Monarch Hails Marwa’s Leadership, Vows Support for NDLEA’s Anti-Drug Campaign

The Mbege Ka Michika, His Royal Majesty Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, has praised the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the war against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Nigeria.

Prof. Gadiga, who led members of his traditional council on a courtesy visit to the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja on Monday, November 10, 2025, assured of Michika Kingdom’s readiness to partner with the Agency in intensifying the fight against substance abuse.

The monarch, who described Marwa as a “worthy son of Michika,” commended his numerous contributions to the development of the community through infrastructural projects, scholarship support, and youth empowerment initiatives.

“We’re here to appreciate all the support you have given us and to express our backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to eradicate illicit drugs, which you have been implementing effectively,” Prof. Gadiga said. “Your efforts are visible for all to see, and we thank God for the leadership qualities He has bestowed upon you, making you a household name not only in our kingdom but across Nigeria.”

He further disclosed that the Michika traditional council had initiated steps to sensitize residents against drug abuse, including directives to churches and mosques to preach against substance use. The royal father expressed the community’s willingness to strengthen collaboration with NDLEA in awareness campaigns and enforcement efforts.

In his response, Brig. Gen. Marwa congratulated the monarch on his ascension to the throne, acknowledging his leadership role and continuous support to the NDLEA command in Michika, particularly in logistics and community engagement.

“The drug problem affects every community, and it requires collective action,” Marwa stated. “We appreciate Your Majesty’s support and understanding that the fight against illicit drugs is not for NDLEA alone—it’s a shared responsibility involving traditional institutions, religious leaders, government, and communities.”

He urged the Michika traditional council to establish a local drug control committee to work closely with the NDLEA in sustaining community-based interventions.

Marwa reiterated the Agency’s call on Nigerian youths to steer clear of drug abuse, stressing that substance use undermines health, family stability, and societal peace.

Among the monarch’s entourage were Gen. Bitrus Kangye (rtd), Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, Dr. John Quaghe, and Halima Buba.
